Kindness
By: Katie Cichowski
Tis the season for long to-do lists and finding the perfect gift. Seemed only fitting that this week’s blog should focus on something we could all use a little more of. Kindness. Genuine kindness that comes from within of making someone else’s day, week, or in some cases their year, a little brighter.
I can’t help but feel inspired when I look at the generosity that comes from those around me, inspiring me to be a better person. Whether it’s in the form of an unexpected monetary gift, the gift of time, or a simple ‘thank you’ of true appreciation for someone else’s everyday task that may be taken for granted.
The words ‘Thank You’ are appreciative, kind, and easy to say, but often forgotten as we scurry through our day. Focused on our own tasks, in our own world, often too busy to notice others around us.
Kindness is infectious. Next time you’re out, take a moment to look around and appreciate someone else’s time to make your experience better. Then, genuinely thank them in whatever form you feel is appropriate. You’ll be amazed at the feeling you get for truly appreciating someone else, whether you see their reaction or not.
In the words of Amelia Earhart “No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another… A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves.”
Wishing you kindness and happiness throughout this holiday, that extends into a very merry 2020!
